First Grant Received from Emerson
The Christian Care Home received its first grant from the Emerson Charitable Trust in February of this year. The grant, in the amount of $3,797.00, was for specific projects, including new landscaping near our front entrance, bird feeders with seed in another area and outdoor ceiling fans in a patio area, all for the enjoyment of our residents, visitors and staff. We thank Emerson for its support and we look forward to a continued partnership. A slideshow of our new landscaping, ceiling fans and bird feeders is below. The new landscaping was designed and installed by Baxter Gardens of Chesterfiled, Missouri.
Trees from Forest ReLeaf of Missouri
Since the fall of 2013, the Christian Care Home has taken advantage of the free trees offered through the CommuniTree Progrmam of Forest ReLeaf of Missouri. To date, we have received about 59 trees of various species that were planted in several areas of our ten acre site to help further diversify and beautify our landscaping.
The mission of Forest ReLeaf is "to provide trees for public and nonprofit plantings and present educational progrms to increase stewardship of trees and forests in Missouri and surrounding regions." We appreciate the opportunity to participate in this worthwhile program and to partner with Forest ReLeaf of Missouri.

First Annual Children's Home Reunion
Saturday, October 4, 2014 was a very special day for seven of the "children" who lived at the former children's home on this historic campus, as it was a sort of "homecoming" for them, as well as an opportunity to re-connect with other "children" whom they had not seen in about 50 years.
Those in attendance and their years of residence at the home are as follows: Paul Dougherty (1936-50), Barbara (Cummings) Vohsen (1941-49), Bob Lockett (1948-62), Dan Lockett (1948-66), Wendy (Jost) Brott (1963-67), John Jost (1963-67), and Robin (Jost) Neumann (1963-67). Also, in attendance was Paul's wife Dori and John's wife, Rose Ann. Jill (Jost) Roper, was unable to attend.
Our honored guests thoroughly enjoyed the luncheon, meeting the board and development director, as well as tourig the present home and visiting with one another. The event was a such a huge success, that they all asked to do it again next year, so the 2nd Annual Children's Home Reunion Luncheon is set for Friday, July 31st.
Below is a sllideshow of the First Annual Reunion.
The Second Annual Children's Home Reunion was held on Friday, July 31st and was attended by five of the eight former residents of the children's home.
Those in attendance were Barbara Vohsen of Foristell, Missouri, Paul Dougherty of Boytnon Beach, Florida, John Jost of Crestwood, Missouri, Bob Lockett of Ferguson, Missouri and Dan Lockett of O'Fallon, Missouri. Also in attendance were Dori Dougherty and Rose Ann Jost, the wives of Paul Dougherty and John Jost, respectivley.
Everyone had a great time visiting with one another again and look forward to next year and many more years to come.
